Hemavathi, The capital of Pallavas

Hemavathi fort

Hemavathi is a samll town located at Anantapur District. It in between 10kms from Amarapuram and 25kms from Madakasira. The town was known as Henjeri during Pallavas period.
Once the town was the capital of Pallavas during 8th and 9th century. To the south west of the town constructions shows a fort. and there are so many temples around the fort. It is being shows the great architects of Pallavas.

Some famous temples are,

1) Siddeshwara Temple
2) Doddeshwara Temple
3) Malleshwara Temple
4) Virupakshwara Temple

How to reach Hemavathi?
Hemavathi is well connected by road to Madakasiri and frequent bus and private transport facilities are  there.  The nearest railway station is Hindpur station.
